Sewing strips!!! It's a belated birthday quilt for my cousin.
Sewing strips is very relaxing, you should try it! :D
With some good music and a cup of coffee...I'm a happy girl.

Meet my scrappy quilt :)

I just gave it to its owner today :) Rossi...and she loves it!

This is probably the 5th time I used Aqua binding...but what can I say.....I just love it. I love what it does to all the colors! I guess it works every time because most my quilts have similar colors....that's probably because most my fabrics have similar colors...and that's probably because I'm drawn to fabrics with those colors....mmm..you see a pattern here?

I joined a swap...Scrappy Mug Rug Swap...and I'm loving it.
Here's my first try. It turned out to be bigger than expected...it's now more like a hot pad (11"x11").
I might give it another try.....or I'll just give her two...that's easier than deciding which one, huh?

I love the "not knowing" part...she doesn't know...heheheh...she doesn't know...

Blogger’s Quilt Festival

I'm totally new with this whole blog thing and this is my first time participating in the Blogger’s Quilt Festival....I'm a little intimidated and excited at the same time...

..so here it goes...

This quilt was a birthday present for a very good friend. It's one of my favorites because it has all my favorite colors and it came out as I planed (a rare occasion for me). I also learned a verrrry important lesson!!! Never re-use duct tape when basting. The tape pieces came lose from the floor so the back of the quilt wasn't completely flat. It had a big crease in the back. I didn't really know how to fix it...so I stippled the heck out of it. Then the 2nd lesson I learned was...white sashing and white thread can do wonders on hiding your quilting mistakes..LOL.

I still love it...with the imperfections and all.

I changed my mind on the border fabric, I wasn't feeling the green...glad I changed it!

ANOTHER HST quilt...

Gotta say...I'm definitely addicted to HST...but I'll hold off on my 4th one for now :)

I used bamboo batting for this quilt. It's a little loftier than the Warm and White I usually use but I like it.

It's a little softer. I still need to wash it and experience the crinkly goodness.

The color of the Target Aqua sheet and Kona Aqua is a perfect match, did you know!??!!?! I didn't. I used Target flat sheet and Snippets by American Jane for the back of the quilt. But the blue boarder and binding is Kona Aqua. My first time using bed sheet for the back was the last HST quilt and loved its softness after washing. So when I found this Target sheet; I know it was perfect for this quilt :D

This one will be in the shop.

I also HAVE to show off my new bath mat... eehhhhh

I used 3 layers of Warm & Natural batting to give it the cushiness. I quilted with meandering pattern and used my favorite red gingham for the back so it's reversible!!

I love love love it. It adds much much needed color to our master bath!

..to its owner. I like it more than I thought I would. It's always harder for me to do non-girlie quilt but this was fun. Hope the owner enjoys it :)

P.S. I'm kind of addicted to HST now. My next project is another HST type quilt...boring, I know...but I cant help it....hehe.

I was working on a baby boy quilt for a friend and started with triangles....

...I was going to do this...

...heheh...this is what I ended up with...

and I'm super happy with it :D

Now I have to decide how to quilt this baby. My comfort zone is stippling but I think straight line quilting would be cool for this quilt. But then, the top is not the flattest top in the world..ahem.........so I think stippling might help it...would it? mmm...

My 2nd swell quilt is coming along :)
I'm still not sure if I should add white sashing or not. White is my comfort zone so I wanted to do this quilt without it and see... But now I'm feeling like it might be too busy....mmmmm...decisions...decisions..

With all the thinking....I took a break from the quilt and made these!

Someday I might be "Swell-ed out" but not today....

I had the idea for this quilt in my head for awhile now. it was nice to finally see it finished. I simplified things quite a bit though..or maybe I just got impatient or lazy......ahem. The quilt is small, only 32" x 31". I think it's perfect as a stroller quilt or a wall quilt.

I love this Amy Butler fabric I used for the back..I think it's the aqua...and it was half price! Even better!
I actually got the idea for the quilt looking at this fabric...not sure how....hehe.

after lots of searching, buying....and hoarding the Swell fabric for so long, i thought it was time to cut it up and get to work. thus comes this baby quilt. it was a nice break after the big Living Room Quilt. baby quilts are so quick and gratifying!
SO!...after i finished sewing on the binding, i was staring...admiring it..then i realized i sewn on the last row up side down! i couldn't help but laugh..hehe.

when i started this quilt i wanted to list it in my Etsy shop and it would be the first quilt i attempt to sell. ~~but i guess this was a sign to keep it...eh..~~

i'm calling this quilt The Living Room Quilt because the colors (and even some of fabrics) are also in my living room.......see..

this was the biggest quilt i have ever done free-motion quilting on (roughly 68x72)....and MAN!...it was tiring...but all worth it.
i gotta admit thought...i think i have been free-motion-quilting way too tight. i love the looseness of the quilting of this quilt.

i'm a "Swell" addict...if i see...i buy. Ok... may be not all...but almost!

often i wonder...why didn't i start quilting earlier...like in 2008, when this collection was still all over the place! i caught the quilting bug late last year so by the time i saw this collection and started hunting for it...i was soooooooooo far behind!

I made this quilt for J with charm packs i scored awhile back. I pet it every morning...so i've decided to make a Swell quilt of my own..heheh...using the jelly roll :D

i was working on another quilt but these fabrics were just screaming "BABY QUILT" so i gave in and made one. i love love love it...the colors make me smile everytime I look at it :)
the problem is...no one i know is having a baby girl.....oh well. It will hang on my studio wall for now.
